Boogie Pimps are an electronic music duo from Erfurt, Germany. It was formed by the two DJs Mark J Klak and Mirko Jacob. Their collaboration started in 2000, when Mirko Jacob started performing in Klak's JoueJoueClub in Erfurt. Jacob has since left the group, and his place was filled by Australian-born Jon Henderson. In Autumn 2003, Boogie Pimps released their first single, a remix of Jefferson Airplane cover of The Great Society's "Somebody to Love"

Even though these themes are supposed to run throughout each CD, it is best to enjoy each one for what they have to offer. BOOGIE COPS starts off with the original funky cop of them all, ISAAC HAYES’ theme from SHAFT. Most of the tracks on this CD are not the usual funk tracks that are found on other compilations. Long forgotten artists such as LAKESIDE and THE BLACKBIRDS sit comfortably beside the well-known TOM BROWNE – Funkin’ For Jamaica and BOBBY WOMACK – Across 100th Street. The second CD, DISCO PIMPS, features a few more familiar tracks starting with WILD CHERRY – Play That Funky Music.

Recently found this in a charity shop for £1. Not many references to it anywhere on the net so just subbed it to Discogs.Had a listen while I was doing it. Some great tracks obv.... but many are overplayed and just too well known for me. The JB tracks are slightly more unusual. The mastering sounds a bit weird, like all the guts have been sucked out. There's a lot of these 'blaxploitation' type CD comps on the market, this is just another one.As I was listening I suddenly sat up in dismay.... what on earth was that!!?? Chicago 'Old Days'. That's not disco or funk .... what the hell's going on?! What a rotten track. The person compiling this must have had some sort of breakdown.
