John Wetton's first solo album is a pure Pop Rock affair with a slight infusion of Blues Rock and Rock 'N' Roll. Released between Wetton's work with UK in the late 70's and Asia in the 80's, Caught In The Crossfire has nothing to do with the music of those groups. Listening to this album really puts Asia into perspective. This album really is an embarrassment that should be avoided by all except the most devoted and fanatic John Wetton followers and collectors. And even those will surely admit that this is not a good album. Songs to "Turn On the Radio", for the then "new decade" of the eighties. This, John Wetton's first solo album, was released in October 1980.

John Wetton spoke with Prog Sphere about Asia's latest studio album "Gravitas" released in 2014, his years with King Crimson and progressive rock. I’ll go to Los Angeles for about three days rehearsals and then we fly to Miami and get on the cruise. I enjoyed it very much last year. There’ll be lots and lots of cross-pollination as well, and I think I’m going to sing a song with Steve Hackett and I’m gonna sing a song with Renaissance as well, while we are on the ship. UK will have a different drummer this year, we will have Virgil Donati instead of Terry Bozzio this year. But yeah, if anyone’s been on the cruise they’ll know it’s really, really great fun. It’s terrific. UK: Eddie Jobson & John Wetton.

John Wetton, singer/bassist and veteran of multiple famed prog-rock outfits, died today (Jan. 31) in his sleep, with the cause of death being widely reported as colon cancer. The group's self-titled debut album was a smash, topping the Billboard 200 Albums chart for nine weeks and spawning Hot 100 top 20 hits with "Heat of the Moment" and "Only Time Will Tell. He was fired from the group after underwhelming sales for 1983's follow-up Alpha but rehired a few years later, bouncing in and out of the lineup before permanently rejoining in the late '00s.
