Hooked on a Feeling is an album by Swedish Rock band Blue Swede recorded in 1973 and released in 1974. They became known internationally recognized largely due to their 'ooga chaka' cover of Jonathan King's 1971 version of the 1968 Mark James song "Hooked on a Feeling". All tracks written by Bengt Palmers and Björn Skifs, except where noted. Björn Skifs - lead vocals. Hinke Ekestubbe - tenor saxophone, backing vocals, flute. Tom Berger - trumpet, backing vocals, flugelhorn. Michael Areklaw - guitars.
The Blackstones are a United Kingdom-based reggae vocal trio formed in 1974, in the tradition of the Jamaican harmony-trio. The Blackstones comprised the brothers Leon, Byron, and Neville Leiffer. One of the group's early singles, "We Nah Go Suffer", was released on the Daddy Kool and topped the British reggae chart . Their Take Another Look at Love album topped the reggae albums chart, the title track being similarly successful as a single. In 1985 the group contributed to the British Reggae Artists Famine Appeal charity single "Let’s Make Africa Green Again", released by Island Records. Further reggae chart hits followed in the mid 1980s, before the group became the backing band for Lance Ellington.
After about 45 years, UK based The Blackstones are still active in the studio and on stage, however now as a tri-part harmony group consisting of Leon Leiffer (the group’s only remaining founding member), Tony Mahony and Junior Bailey. This Mellow Mood album is a wonderful trip down memory lane. Fifteen impeccable chosen classic tunes are perfectly performed by the golden voices of The Blackstones, which makes it a real joy to put them on repeat. Although each and every track is truly well worth hearing, it are in particular renditions of The Chi-lites’ Living In The Footsteps (done over by Delroy Wilson in 1973), Curtis Mayfield’s My Woman’s Love (done over by Jimmy Riley in 1980), Happy Land (the Studio One tune that formed the basis for The Abyssinians’ Satta Massa.
