The Sound of Music was conceived when Laibach were infamously invited to perform in North Korea in 2015. The band performed several songs from the 1965 film’s soundtrack at the concert in Pyongyang, chosen by Laibach as it’s a well-known and beloved film in the DPRK and often used by schoolchildren to learn English. The album was recorded and produced in Ljubljana, Slovenia and in Pyongyang, DPRK and represents another successful collaboration between Laibach and Silence (Primož Hladnik and Boris Benko), who previously co-created Laibach’s 2006 Volk album.

I don't know if this is in the original LP master, but naturally, it could have been solved with a remaster from the original isolated music and isolated vocal tracks, as I don't recall this on the 24K gold CD or any video version of the film. Many of my issues with this OST could have been solved that way, especially with the 2010 HD restoration of the audio elements, which would have allowed for a pristine remaster of the film versions with even better sound than the gold CD.

From the Album: The Sound of Music. Genre: Broadway, Soundtrack. Since Page’s version was recorded a week before the original Broadway cast album, Page was the first artist to record any song from the musical. She featured the song on her national TV variety show sponsored by Oldsmobile, The Patti Page Olds Show. The song was sung by Mary Martin in the 1959 original Broadway production. The version of the song which is perhaps the best known was sung by Julie Andrews in the 1965 film version, with a reprise by the Von Trapp family later in the film. The song introduces the character of Maria, a young novice in an Austrian abbey
