Jerome Alan Yester (born January 9, 1943) is an American folk rock musician, record producer, and arranger. Yester was born in Birmingham, Alabama, and grew up in Burbank, California. He formed a duo with brother Jim Yester, the Yester Brothers, and starting playing folk clubs in Los Angeles in 1960. When Jim enlisted in the army, Jerry joined first The New Christy Minstrels, and then, in 1963, the Modern Folk Quartet.

I was lying on a mattress on the floor and all there was for me to see was a bookcase with my set of Encyclopaedia Britannica. I pulled out the volume for ‘A’ and there was an entry on Aldebaran. If you lived on a planet next to it, when the sun rose it would fill the whole sky.
