FUTURE is meant as a Future exhibition, a portrayal of his many sides-superstar, romantic, heartbreaker, hedonist-which have previously only been showcased in flashes. But it doesn’t do anything past Future projects haven’t done already, and ironically it doesn't tell us anything new about Future. In bringing all these previous personas together, he creates an album that’s mostly retreads. And there are a few moments that completely lack Future’s patented dynamism and evocation, particularly Good Dope and Scrape.
FUTURE' is a reminder that Future is trap music’s phoenix-the second you consider him dead, he only burns brighter. There’s something rather abnormal about embarking upon a new Future album and not hearing his voice conquering radio waves.
Future (4) – Future. Label: Freebandz Entertainment – 88985480931, Epic – 88985480931, A1 Recordings – 88985480931. Format: 2 Vinyl, LP, Album. I'm a pretty big fan of this album (the first half or so anyway), and it's great to have a physical copy, but the sound just isn't quite on point here. My copy has a ton of surface noise after a thorough cleaning, which is not helped by the mastering being pretty low in overall volume. Guessing they compressed things more than would be ideal to fit all TWENTY tracks on 2 discs. My biggest complaint about Future is his complete lack of quality control, and it's on full display here.
