At Sixes and Sevens is the debut studio album by the Norwegian gothic metal band Sirenia, and their only album featuring the vocals of French singer Fabienne Gondamin. The woman on the cover is a Norwegian model, picked by the designer to represent a Siren. Morten Veland – guitars, harsh vocals (on all tracks except bass guitar, keyboards, programming, drums. Fabienne Gondamin – female vocals (on all tracks). Kristian Gundersen – clean male vocals (on tracks & #8).
The orchestral gothic metal of Morten Veland's Sirenia is more than ambitious on the group's debut, At Sixes and Sevens - it's almost cosmic in scope and epic by any standard. After carefully honing his skills in the more collaborative Tristania, Veland holds nothing back on this 2002 Napalm offering. A cadre of operatic vocalists and classical musicians wrap Veland's songs in a composite sheen that's rare even within a genre known for grand soundscapes
The problem is, what good is music without tension and release? Much of At Sixes and Sevens trudges along at a measured pace, maintaining a respectable standard while allowing all of it's many sonic facets to function on an acceptable level. At Sixes and Sevens: After such a week track, we have this gift, which has the same name as the album. The intro of the song is one of Excellency, putting a melancholic atmosphere into the music, making use of the acoustic guitar, the violin and the female vocals. Then it powers up, entering the distorted guitars and the heavy drumming, followed by the harsh vocals, mixed with Latin choirs.
At Sixes And Sevens is Sirenia's debut album. This is the only album featuring the vocals of French singer Fabienne Gondamin. The girl on the cover is a Norwegian model, picked by the designer to represent a Siren. This album continues in the same vein as Tristania's Beyond the Veil. The biggest difference is the female singer.
I'm at sixes and sevens in the shade of thy heavens No moon, nor sun Meridian prevail in my oblivion. Come with me to seek the sun inside Meridian This time around we dance We're chosen ones. Thou stalk as the unseen in visions undreamed to revel in the deep of life's malignity Thou stalk my manic mind yon it's horizon to draw that waning sun upon Meridian. Would you like to cope for all your dreams? Sister Nightfall controlling the lights in me Though it hurts it feels just like a dream. Come down to linger in heresy and come down on me with all your serenity Shivers down the spine when she comes down the hall Thy effigy seems frail to be or was it ever there at all? every tear that runs adown will merge and hurt now that winter's all around Would you like to wear the secrets of the seven seas?
Album (Studio full-length). In times of strife you seem to lose it all, and more somehow No waning life can retrieve it Can't make the world a better place to thrive nor can I keep on persisting. You're on the wane in funereal winds with a thousand winters within You're life unveil its weary eyes Sun sets in somber skies.
