The title refers to the thirteen tracks included, which feature a variety of songs from their five studio albums released up to that point. It is the band's only compilation album released while lead singer Jim Morrison was alive.

The Doors 13 LP 1970 Original Album Pre Owned Very Good Condition. Shipped with USPS Media Mail. LP Record - The Doors - 13 (Thirteen) - Elektra EKS 74079 - Stereo. Very collectible album, classic Doors. Red labels are clean and intact. Inner sleeve has a split at one top corner only, mild amount of wear on the paper.

The success and continued popularity of 13 over the years was a perfect illustration of the way in which the Doors (and their record label) successfully manipulated the group's image in two distinctly different directions

Despite the band said that they didn& like that Elektra released compilation albums from them, I consider this "13" album ( titled by the number of songs included in the album) as a very good compilation, one of the best. It has several of my favourite Doors& ("People Are Strange", "Moonlight Drive", "The Crystal Ship", "Touch Me", "You& Lost Little Girl", "Wild Child" and "The Unknown Soldier") plus other songs which are good

Their debut album, The Doors (1967), released by Elektra Records, charted at No. 2 on the US Billboard 200 and produced the group's most successful single, "Light My Fire". The album received several sales certifications including a four times multi-platinum from both the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), and from the Canadian Recording Industry Association (CRIA) I:^ This release also attained charting positions in the countries of Finland (9), Ireland (18).
