Rhyme & Reason (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) is the soundtrack to Peter Spirer's 1997 documentary film Rhyme & Reason. It was released on January 14, 1997 through Priority Records. The album found a great deal of success, peaking at on the Billboard 200 and on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in the United States. Track 2 contains elements from "The Human Fly" as performed by Lalo Schifrin. Track 9 contains elements from "Go Stetsa I" as performed by Stetsasonic.

The soundtrack to the 1997 hip-hop documentary Rhyme & Reason, released at the height of the hip-hop's coastal tensions, tries to pull together the genre's disparate strands. In an attempt to show that the regional and stylistic differences are nor nearly so great as they appear, East, West, South, and Midwest are all represented in one form or another. The contrast is profound and startling. Such uncomfortable moments characterize the album. The compilers of the Rhyme & Reason soundtrack don't come close to uniting hip-hop, but they do manage to bring together a host of strong (and mostly non-album) tracks from some of the genre's best. Most hip-hop fans will find something to like here.

A soundtrack album is any album that incorporates music directly recorded from the soundtrack of a particular feature film or television show. The first such album to be commercially released was Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, the soundtrack to the film of the same name, in 1938. The first soundtrack album of a film's orchestral score was that for Alexander Korda's 1942 film Jungle Book, composed by Miklós Rózsa.

so as you see " Rhyme & reason Original Motion Picture Soundtrack by Various Artists" is worth a copy even if there were some weak joints by wack arist but tight arist made up for it. Recommended. Mack 10's collaboration with Tha Dogg Pound on "Nothin' But The Cavi Hit" is an excellent introduction to the album with Kurupt ripping the mic apart behind a hard beat courtesy of Daz. Likewise, Busta's energy on "Wild Hot" guest starring A Tribe Called Quest is absolutely bonkers.
