The Happy Family were an early-1980s post punk band from Scotland, featuring Momus and members of Josef K. The band was initially formed in 1981 by Nick Currie (vocals, guitar), who had dropped out of college to form the band, Malcolm Ross (guitar), Dave Weddell (bass) of Josef K and Paul Mason. After a debut EP on 4AD Records in March 1982, they expanded to a 5-piece with the recruitment of former Josef K and Boots For Dancing drummer Ronnie Torrance, keyboard player Neill Martin.

Happy Jawbone Family Band. October 15, 2013 Mexican Summer MEX150. We don’t know what the Happy Jawbone Family Band will sound like to you. We don’t know what you’ve heard, what you’ve lived through. What you see is solely based on your own experiences. It can be the greatest vista you’ve ever encountered, the life of your mind. Someone makes a mixtape for you, and you can guess as to its intent, but only the compiler can tell you what it means. The Jawbone recorded this new album with Jarvis Taverniere (Woods, Meneguar, producer of many a great record over the last few years), and he’s shown how to open up their sound without sacrificing the bouts of whimsy and peculiar emotions that arose from previous efforts.
A happy jawbone family X - mas gift to you, 2011. Vol. 1: opereation ho! Ho!
Since 2009, Brattleboro, V. s Happy Jawbone Family Band have released hundreds of songs exploring their lo-fi, disturbed take on whimsy via tiny homegrown labels. Mexican Summer will release their next record, for which this retrospective compilation acts as a primer. The song is an explosive, excessively distorted shout-along that brings to mind the blown-out sound of Siltbreeze acts like Times New Viking and Eat Skull, or the proudly out-of-tune punk rock of Half Japanese. But unlike those bands, Happy Jawbone's members sing with more of a whimsical, childlike disposition, an eerie aesthetic given the title and the chorus.
Happy Song shows the band moving in the same musical direction that surprised many fans with their 2014 single Drown. There is more of an emphasis on melody and production than the heavy metalcore riffs and breakdowns of previous BMTH music. Talking to Gigwise after their mammoth Wembley show in December 2014, Oli said the new album would have them pushing themselves further, writing different songs to those of ten years ago. Happiness doesn’t sell that wel. ain’s better to listen to. Oli also told Billboard Magazine: Happy Song is a sarcastic open letter to the world about how we use.

Sing-Sing were an English indie pop/dream pop band formed in 1997 in London, comprising vocalist Lisa O'Neill (who had previously worked with Locust, Mad Professor, and Kid Loco) and guitarist/vocalist Emma Anderson (formerly of Lush). They worked with a variety of musicians to create a sound which nodded to 1960s girl groups, electronica and folk. They disbanded in 2007.
