Partikel is a collaborative album by the noise musicians Merzbow and Nordvargr. The artists used each other's music as soundsources for their own works. It is the first part of the Partikel trilogy. Their eponymous debut album, partikel, was released on F-IRE in November 2010. They then went on to sign to the Whirlwind Recordings Label to release their Second album "Cohesion" which was included in Jazz critic Kevin LeGendre's top 10 albums of 2012 list.

A frenetic opening to the third album by Partikel augurs well for the rest of this hour-long recording and there's almost a reminiscence of Frank Zappa's Hot Rats in its intensity. Partikel here is augmented on this session by a string quartet. A jazz trio with strings? Yes, but not just any strings, these are strings on steroids.
