The Velvet Underground is the self-titled third studio album by American rock band the Velvet Underground. Released in March 1969, it was their first record with Doug Yule, who was a replacement for John Cale. Recorded in 1968 at TTG Studios in Hollywood, California, the album's sound-consisting largely of ballads and straightforward rock songs-marked a notable shift in style from the band's previous recordings.

Photo courtesy: Nathan Gamber. I don’t want to say it’s a closely guarded secret, said Brian Schaeffer, one of the LAN goers. The group told me they would hang out together in various houses and, sometimes, even a tire warehouse, lugging computer rigs to locations to play a variety of games. It was the summer of 2002, and at the time, Counter-Strike was the game to play. Others recount games like Command & Conquer, both Renegade and Red Alert 2, as well as Battlefield 1942 (for those with the 512 MB RAM to run it) and StarCraft custom games. Counter-Strike was the great equalizer.
This album has been called one of the pinnacle underground albums of the entire 90s, and perhaps even ever. That’s a bold statement, and then some, but I won’t lie and say I can’t see where these critics were coming from. Elzhi "The Preface" (2008).
