Amata is a live album featuring a short acoustic performance by John Wetton supported by John Mitchell from Arena on guitars and Martin Orford from IQ on keyboards. The album continues in the tradition of Wetton's old band Asia by having a title that begins and ends with the letter A (as Wetton's own Agenda album and Amorata video, like Amata all recorded live in Poland).
John Kenneth Wetton (12 June 1949 – 31 January 2017) was an English singer, bassist, and songwriter. He was born in Willington, Derbyshire, and grew up in Bournemouth, Dorset John Wetton. After the break-up of . Wetton released his first solo album, Caught in the Crossfire, in 1980. Later that year he had a brief stint in Wishbone Ash, contributing bass and vocals to their album Number the Brave (1981). In 1981 he had a meeting with Geffen Records' boss John Kalodner who took him to task for playing bass in the backing band for Bryan Ferry. Agenda (2004) Metal Mind Records. Amata features a very special, acoustic concert given by Wetton in 2003. Agenda and the Amorata DVD feature another concert recorded in Poland featuring Wetton with his band. The tracklist includes such classics as 'Starless', 'Red' and 'Book of Saturday' (originally recorded with King Crimson), 'In the Dead of the Night' and 'Rendezvous 602' (from his days with UK) and 'Heat of the Moment' (the Asia classic). The DVD also includes an interview with Wetton, band profiles, discography, photo gallery, desktop images and more.

His first major band experience came when he joined Family in 1971. After that album, Wetton left the group for a short time, replaced by Greg Lake. Lake did a tour with the group, but then Wetton came back into the fold. He stayed with the group through their next release, 1985's Astra.
