from the album A Soulful Christmas and Say It Loud – I'm Black and I'm Proud. Say It Loud – I'm Black and I'm Proud (Part 2)". Released. August 1968 (1968-08). A few performers have recorded cover versions of the song, including jazz saxophonist Lou Donaldson (on his 1969 album Say It Loud!), reggae singer Bob Marley (in a medley with "Black Progress") and the punk rock band Black Randy and the Metrosquad. A slightly modified version of the bassline of "Say It Loud – I'm Black and I'm Proud" appears in long sections of the track "Yesternow" on the Miles Davis album A Tribute to Jack Johnson

Hot Dog is an album by jazz saxophonist Lou Donaldson recorded for the Blue Note label in 1969 and featuring Donaldson with Ed Williams, Charles Earland, Melvin Sparks, and Leo Morris. The album features Donaldson using the varitone amplification system for his saxophone.

A died-in-the-wool bopper, alto man Lou Donaldson clearly took his cue from the legendary Charlie Parker, but when modern fashions insisted that he go with the flow, he had no trouble adapting his straight forward approach to a groove-based format. The first record to really hit the mark was 1967’s Alligator Boogaloo, with Dr. Lonnie Smith and George Benson sharing the bandstand and the results decidedly on the funky side. Even though Blue Note has done a good job of maintaining Donaldson’s Blue Note catalog, somehow the 1968 set Say It Loud! has gotten lost in the shuffle and that’s a shame because its really of the same cloth as the previously mentioned groove classics. But don’t expect too much from this one, because the premise is still more about dancing to the beat than swinging hard.

The song 'Say It Loud (I'm Black And I'm Proud)' by Lou Donaldson has a tempo of 122 beats per minute (BPM) on 'Say It Loud!'. Video Say It Loud (I'm Black and I'm Proud). 1. Say It Loud (I'm Black and I'm Proud). Top Songs Lou Donaldson.
