Offer, Debussy: Piano Music Volume 2. Every bar of these performances confirms Ogawa as a most elegant, scrupulously sensitive interpreter of 'music like a dream from which one draws away the veil' (Debussy). Gramophone Classical Music Guide, 2010 Mor. elease Date: 1st Jan 2003. Catalogue No: BISCD1205.

On the programme, Ogawa combines some of the composer's last masterpieces for the piano with rarely heard works. Among the highlights, the 12 Etudes represent Debussy's final, glorious spurt of creativity; dispensing with the catchiness of appealing titles and associations, Debussy regarded the pieces as a return to music in its purest form. The album also includes a rarely heard 13th étude, the Étude retrouvée, only.

Listeners not familiar with the three previous volumes in Noriko Ogawa 's recordings of the solo piano music of Claude Debussy may be surprised by the young Japanese pianist's staggering virtuosity and consummate musicality. The magic of her playing is in her precisely calibrated attack, her brilliant tone, and her nuanced balances, but Ogawa 's virtuosity is impossible to overlook.

Images (usually pronounced in French) are six compositions (two series, books or sets, each consisting of three pieces) for solo piano by Claude Debussy. These are distinct from Debussy's Images pour orchestre. The pieces in the first series were written between 1901 and 1905 and the pieces in the second series were written in 1907. The total run time is approximately 30 minutes. Book 1 or 1st series (L110). Reflets dans l'eau (Reflections in the water). Hommage à Rameau (Tribute to Rameau).
