The Nice Jazz Festival, held annually since 1948 in Nice, on the French Riviera, is "the first jazz festival of international significance. Frommer's calls it "the biggest, flashiest, and most prestigious jazz festival in Europe. Over the years, many artists, such as Lionel Hampton, Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Helen Humes, Herbie Hancock, and Miles Davis, regularly appeared at the festival.

And hours later, Jaden Smith rang in his 21st birthday with his celebrity friends. Celebration: The star, who is the son of Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, opted for a casual birthday look - consisting of ripped denim bottoms, a yellow graphic shirt and a coordinating white hoodie. Fun: He was seen leaving the bash and getting into an SUV after putting on a white hoodie. Jordyn also opted to go casual in a white hoodie with her tresses loose; the former best friend of Kylie Jenner grinned ear to ear in the car.

Keith Smith was a powerful trumpeter, an astute businessman and a deeply unattractive man. He was better known for his achievements abroad than he was in Britain. Smith began playing in amateur jazz bands around London in the late Fifties. Hefty Jazz the band, which was co-led by the clarinettist Ian Wheeler before Smith took over completely in 1969, demonstrated Smith's ability to attract great musicians to him for it included, from time to time, the trombonist George Chisholm, the pianist Mick Pyne as well as Americans who toured as sidemen with the band, including Nat Pierce, Johnny Mince, Peanuts Hucko, Barrett Deems and Johnny Guarnieri.
