Voices (Matchbook Romance album). Voices is the second studio album by American rock band Matchbook Romance. The album's sound leaves behind much of the stripped down sound of their debut, Stories and Alibis, opting for a darker, more foreboding tone. The album was released through Epitaph Records on February 14 in the US. accompanied by the single "Monsters", and radio only single "Surrender".

Seeing as many bands are on-fire one album and completely fizzled out the next, it was almost too easy to expect next to nothing for Matchbook Romance's follow-up Epitaph release. Stories and Alibis was a decent album in the ranks of all the other que records that came out in the early 2000s, but no song on that album could at all prepare listeners for the ambition the band showcases on Voices. What awaits unsuspecting ears is a moody, intense, dramatic, and orchestrated second full-length tour de force.

Matchbook Romance is your band, and Voices is the record. However, the definite highlight of the album is the current single, "Monsters". Possibly the most infectious song that Matchbook has crafted yet (Handclaps! F cking handclaps!), its driving pace, excellent vocal harmonies, walking-bass, slithery guitar riffs, and a hella-melodic, modestly-shreddy solo caps off a song with equal parts balls and pop perfection. Simply a GREAT song that perfectly sums up Matchbook's new sound perfectly. After "Monsters", the album gets a little more subdued.
