Complete your Leon Vynehall collection. Superb second longplayer from Leon Vynehall.
Leon Vynehall - Rojus Leon Vynehall makes house music with the heart of a singer/songwriter and the soul of '90s hip-hop. Rojus is the Lithuanian word for "paradise," which is the core theme here. Vynehall strings these eight tracks together with recordings of tropical birds and their mating calls, meant as a metaphor for club-goers intermingling on a night out. It's an interesting enough concept but is ultimately too self-contained.
Leon Vynehall’s new album, Rojus, comes with a series of conceptual frameworks. The title of the first track and the last one combine to put a neat bow on the whole release – Beyond This. eventually merges happily wit. here Is You – and sampled bird sounds help carry the record from one track to the next. Vynehall also contributed a song to the second volume of Gerd Janson’s Musik For Autobahns, a compilation built entirely with driving in mind. It’s fun. is just the theme I’ve chosen for this record, he continues.

Brighton-born producer Leon Vynehall is already known for his beat-making acumen: His singles for imprints like Aus Music, ManMakeMusic and 3024 have been well-received, while his 2014 debut Music For The Uninvited made a bunch of year-end lists.
Rojus is Lithuanian for heaven or paradise, and everything on this album points to a relaxed, lovely time, without any hint of melancholy or anger. The record equally lives up to its subtitle, Designed to Dance - apart from the upward-spiraling intro "Beyond This," the album is entirely aimed at the dancefloor, doing away with the downtempo interludes of Uninvited. Otherwise, the album essentially isn't too much of a departure from Vynehall's debut, but it feels a bit more lush and forest-like, with bird calls sweetly chirping throughout the album
