Nothing to Declare is a solo album by pianist Paul Bley recorded in 2003 and released on the Justin Time label in 2004.
It's simple in its presentation, but labyrinthine in its journeys". All About Jazz said "Bley's lyricism has never been blunt or simplistic, and Nothing to Declare is nothing to be glossed over with a superficial listen, but it's sufficiently natural that the spontaneous leaps in logic make good sense".
Album · 2006 · 5 Songs. More By Nothing To Declare. See All. Louder Than Words. If I Ever Make it Back - Single.
NOTHING TO DECLARE is an Alternative rock band from Tokyo. The band was founded in 2005 in Singapore as Mas Kimura’s solo project during his earlier music career as a member of Pug Jelly/Saw Loser (Universal). Soon after the formation, NOTHING TO DECLARE released Nothing To Declare Ep which quickly rocketed this project onto a headlining slot in Singapore’s biggest outdoor rock festival BayBeats (70,000pax/3 days).
Nothing to Declare is his fifth solo outing for Justin Time. There are four pieces, the shortest of which is over eight minutes long. In these long solos, Bley doesn't just stretch out; he rambles across ideas in song and in musical history; he approaches concepts and techniques with the same weight he does his innate pointillistic lyricism. His engagement of the blues is everywhere present but not always apparent.
