Alien Ant Farm may have appeared on the national scene in 2001 in association with the nu metal crowd, but five years later and four albums in, the band is sporting this tag as loosely as ever. At the album level, though, there's something that makes Up in the Attic seem a bit hodgepodge and lopsided, instead of cohesive. But hey, play it on shuffle mode, skip past the occasional song, and all should be OK.
Truant (styled as truANT) is Alien Ant Farm's third album. It was released on August 8, 2003 by DreamWorks Records. The producers of the album were Stone Temple Pilots' guitarist and bassist Robert DeLeo and Dean DeLeo. These Days" was released to radio on July 1, 2003. Glow" was released to radio on September 9, 2003. The music video for track "These Days" was filmed on a roof top across the street from the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles.
In 2005, Alien Ant Farm got together to record their third proper album with new guitartist Joe Hill (replacing Terry Corso, who joined Powerman 5000) in tow, and with Incubus-producer Jim Wirt calling the shots. That album became "Third Draft," which unforunately didn't see the light of day in '05, mainly due to a fallout with Geffen Records. Well, Alien Ant Farm are back once again with a new album, "Up In The Attic," on a new record label, and with a new bassist as well. Well, "Third Draft" fans might be a bit disappointed to find that "Up In The. Although 'Up In The Attic' contains some of Alien Ant Farm's best work, it also contains some of the worst. The band's style has changed considerabley since 'Truant', which is probably due to a slight lineup change.
