The Cure's debut album, Three Imaginary Boys (1979), reached number forty-four on the UK Albums Chart. The next two albums, Seventeen Seconds (1980) and Faith (1981), were top 20 hits in the UK, reaching number twenty and number fourteen respectively  . Essential Glastonbury.

The Cure - 1986 Glastonbury setlist. Shake Dog Shake, Play For Today, Kyoto Song, Primary, Charlotte Sometimes, A Strange Day, In Between Days, The Walk, A Night Like This, One Hundred Years, Push, A Forest, Sinking. The Cure’s third headline Glastonbury appearance was in 1995. Following the international success of their album Wish in 1992 (their first UK Number 1 LP), the rest of the 90s were a bit of a grey period for The Cure. Drummer Boris Williams and guitarist Porl Thompson had both left, while bassist Simon Gallup went on sabbatical, so sessions for the next album were protracted.

The sales and streaming spikes. Kylie Minogue coincided her Pyramid Stage performance with the release of a greatest hits album, which is on course for top spot this week, according to the Official Chart Company. And their debut album Hot Fuss is likely to return to the top 100 for the first time in two years, with sales up 357%. The Killers joined by Pet Shop Boys and Johnny Marr. Media playback is unsupported on your device. Kylie Minogue - 23,900. The artists with the highest proportion of positive mentions were: Christine and the Queens - 9. % positive. Vampire Weekend - 9. %. Janelle Monae - 9.

The so-called Glastonbury effect has seen sales of the six-string rise over this week. Guitar sales have reportedly soared in the wake of The Cure‘s headline set at last weekend’s Glastonbury. Retailer guitarguitar, founded in Edinburgh in 2004, has reported a jump of 16% in sales of electric guitars at the weekend, as The National reports. It also looks like The Cure’s headline set on the Sunday night.
