Electric Wizard are an English doom metal band from Dorset. The band formed in 1993 and have recorded nine studio albums, two of which are now considered genre landmarks: Come My Fanatic. 1997) and Dopethrone (2000). Electric Wizard's brand of doom metal incorporates stoner and sludge traits, with lyrics focusing on the occult, witchcraft, . Lovecraft, horror films and cannabis. In 2014 they formed Witchfinder Records, an imprint of Spinefarm Records, on which they plan to release all future albums.
cult legends ELECTRIC WIZARD will release their new album, "Wizard Bloody Wizard", on November 10 via Spinefarm. The LP is described in a press release as "forty-three minutes of cranium-crushing bludgeon rock, a relentless aural brain rape and, like the band's beloved vintage horror/exploitation movies, definitely not for those of a nervous disposition.
Electric Wizard have just revealed the release details for their ninth studio album, Wizard Bloody Wizard. The full-length will see a Nov. 10 street date via Witchfinder, Spinefarm Records, but you can hear the new track See You in Hell right now. Since forming in 1993, Electric Wizard have risen up as one of metal’s most essential stoner bands, bowing at the altar of Black Sabbath and the church of fuzz pedals. With Wizard Bloody Wizard, the British band aims to resurrect the days when rock music stood for drugs, groupies and mountains of amplification.
I guess Wizard Bloody Wizard is a step to the roots? Yeah the idea was to get back to our earliest musical influences. To get back to the core of the actual musicians that first inspired us to pick up a guitar. Emphasis of your last album Time to Die was based in horrific atmosphere accompanied with extremely long and heavy riffs of darkness. It’s completely different album compared to Wizard Bloody Wizard. Was it difficult to make a different sounding album or was it a completely spontaneous decision? I hope all of our LP’s have a different feel and atmosphere but still using the same instrumentation. Obviously the new line-up had a huge effect on the sound, everyone has their own influences and style and that comes out unconsciously in their playing
