For Tangerine Dream, 1987 is largely remembered for Chris Franke's final full-length release with the band, Tyger (the only pre-2000s TD studio album I refuse to have in my collection). However, although Canyon Dreams wasn't released on CD until 1991, it originally dates to 1987 as the band's first video-album. The band's first work for new-age label Miramar, the original release seemed to cement their reputation as a new-age group, yet the music itself is some of the most interesting to come from the group's post-Virgin era. The combination of soundtrack-like purpose.

The electronic music group Tangerine Dream has released more than one hundred albums, singles, EPs and compilations since the group was formed in 1967. Tangerine Dream's releases have been divided into several eras based on the record label of the time. Tangerine Dream's first releases were on the Ohr label.

Encore: Tangerine Dream Live is the second live album and tenth overall by the German group Tangerine Dream. It is mostly assembled from various recordings from the band's very successful 1977 . Tangerine Dream performed Cherokee Lane and Monolight, or some variants thereof, at every concert in 1977. The released version of Monolight has been identified as having been recorded in Washington, . The spoken introduction – by Leo del Aguila .

TD received its first Grammy nomination with this album. The music was originally composed for a scenic video on the Grand Canyon, released under the same title. The style is a rather ingenious combination of the group's progressive style and current commercial leanings, and, as such, is Tangerine Dream's finest album of recent years.

Canyon Dreams' is the 30th album from Tangerine Dream. It was released in 1991, but was actually recorded in 1986 as a soundtrack to a film about the Grand Canyon. Since there was a bootleg of the music that had been taken from the video, TD released it with longer run times, adding some material to the original recording. Also, since it was recorded in 1986, Edgar Froese and Christopher Franke were the main musicians as was typical of TD's albums from this period.

In the USA Canyon Dreams was nominated for the Grammy as "Best New Age Album 1991". Some months before a bootleg version of the soundtrack had already been released, titled The Canyon Dreams, featuring the music from the video. The music material on the official soundtrack was partially remixed, has slightly different running times and features the bonus track Colorado Dawn composed by Jerome Froese. To me, their last great soundtrack, and fine album. I stuck around though until Goblin's Club. Then I had had enough.

Canyon Dreams is the thirtieth album, and the fourteenth soundtrack, by German band Tangerine Dream. It was recorded in 1986 and released in 1991 on compact disc and compact cassette formats. The music was written as a sound accompaniment for an eponymous scenic video film about the Grand Canyon by Jan Nickman, released by the record label Miramar. The album's tracks are divided into various episodes and related to the titles of the cuts.
