The Rolling Stones, from left to right: Keith Richards, Charlie Watts, Mick Jagger, Bill Wyman and Mick Taylor. Photograph: PR handout. 11. Rolling Stones No 2 (1965). The early 60s blues scene was a purists’ movement, but their second album demonstrates how eclectic and boundary-blurring the early Stones were, boldly defining a space of their own somewhere between blues, rock’n’roll and soul, amping up the pace and the attitude of each to thrilling effect. 10. Blue & Lonesome (2016). At the point where even the most committed fan despaired of them ever making an unequivocally great album again, they did. You could ask why they didn’t return sooner to the blues songs that first inspired them, but the passing of time gives Blue & Lonesome its power. With a lifetime of experience behind them, the Stones sounded as if they really knew of what they sung.

It’s not a Rolling Stones album. It’s a Muddy Waters album on which different members of the Stones appear at different times. Then again, it’s a wordless 30-second snippet that the Stones seemed to feel was worth appending to the end of one of their better albums of the ’80s, so render under Jagger what is Jagger’s. Which is something he never again did for the Stones. Given his his performance on this spaced-out track, that decision was probably for the best.

My copy of The Rolling Stones’ debut album. The change of colour on the left is where the laminate has peeled away slightly. Well, it is over 50 years ol. .Have you ever checked the Rare Record Price Guide ( RRPG ) prices of Stones LPs? They made me wince like I’d just smelled Keith Richards’ breath in his heyday. Rolling Stones First Album: 1st pressing £1,000. Rolling Stones £130  . If good (ie scratched or tatty) then half again. Take a look at a guide to record grading (google goldmine record grading) and you will get a feel for what condition yours is in. Good luck!

5 Paint It Black - The Rolling Stones. How did this song climb so high? Old but gold - trysanto. Part of a story and hard to split it from album, a nice set of headphones must be used to appreciate the sound of the sliding on the guitars strings. This song has more of a meaning than "Hotel California". This song is literally the greatest rock song of all time. I've been scrolling through a lot of songs in this top and realized that many of them deserved to be I voted for this one because I think Pink Floyd is definitely the best band ever. They changed music forever and did totally change my life, too. Oh come on heart are lame, wish you were here should be on 3rd and heart on 11, I think pink floyd is a perfection, all of their song are great, especially comfortably numb and us and them. Just an all around amazing song. Always will lift you up. - lasky21.

But then again, the last time the Stones managed to finish a studio album was back in 2005, with A Bigger Bang. This past December, the Rolling Stones gathered in Mark Knopfler’s British Grove Studios in West London to begin work on a batch of original songs. Jagger is deliberately vague on the nature of those tunes. I hope it’s gonna be a very eclectic album, he says.
