Osmium is the debut album of American funk band Parliament, led by George Clinton. The album has a psychedelic soul sound with a spirit of experimentation that is more similar to early Funkadelic than the later R&B-inspired Parliament albums. It was originally released in September 1970 on Invictus Records. The original vinyl release contained a glossy lyric sheet.
Osmium, the debut album by the American funk band Parliament, was released in September of 1970. The type of sound primarily featured on this album is Psychedelic Soul, which bears a similar resemblance to the early albums of Funkadelic, a group also led by the same leader of Parliament, George Clinton.
Things get going with an appropriately leering start, thanks to "I Call My Baby Pussycat," which makes something like "What's New, Pussycat?" seem like innocent, chaste conversation.
