Freak out! The band CARLTON MELTON formed along the Mendocino County coastline in Northern California on the weekend of July 17th, 2008.

Out to Sea sees Carlton Melton expand the psychedelia and free outrock sound of their previous output to its furthest horizons. Huge rhythms, outta space riffage, sparkling synths, pastoral passages, searing shards of molten guitar, smothered ambience and gentle guitar-picking all flow together into waves of sound to lap at the shores of your senses. Out To Sea is a guitar album for sure. Even more so than past CM records. The synths take a spot in the background so Carlton Melton's guitar prowess can be shown in the spotlight. This is not a complaint, folks. So many people complain that guitar just isn't used like it used to be used on records.

Heavy as hell Californians Carlton Melton are back this summer with a new album of spaced-out psych rock, Out To Sea, due out on Agitated on July 4. It will be the band's first release since 2013's Always Even - an album that tQ loved - and if lead track 'Peaking Duck' is anything to go by, there will be no let. up. They'll be heading to these shores for a run of UK dates, with more details forthcoming, but for now, they're confirmed for the Liverpool Psych Fest, September 25-26.
