Released in concert with the singles/B-sides compilation Bona Drag - but ironically not including the B-sides from this release - Piccadilly Palare continues Morrissey's work with the Langer/Winstanley team. This, in turn, likely explains the surprise guest on the title track: Suggs, lead vocalist for the legendary Madness. Like many of the other guest appearances on his singles, though, Morrissey takes the lead so much you can barely hear the other. The song itself is another glam-touched chugger, its emotional heft provided by the wounded, bitter lyrics.

Piccadilly Palare" was a single released by Morrissey in October 1990. Despite reaching a disappointing number 18 on the British singles chart, "Piccadilly Palare" was a generally well received single, and the last release before Morrissey began a writing partnership with Mark Nevin. It also features one of Morrissey's former colleagues from The Smiths, Andy Rourke.

Lyrically, Piccadilly Palare is about male prostitution around the Piccadilly area of London, and while it seemed to please the critics well enough, it tied with Ouija Board, Ouija Board as Morrissey’s lowest-charting single up to that point, which may or may not be why he looked back on the track in his autobiography so dismissively, calling it a student work. of novelty that wears off before noon.
